Magnet Mouse is an official supporter of Starlight Children's Foundation

In late Autumn last year, we became official supporters of Starlight Children's Foundation.  With your help, we donated £217 at Christmas and we look forward to increasing our donations in the future.   Starlight is an incredible charity and one close to our hearts.  Our press release can be found below.

Magnet Mouse is proud to be supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation, the national children’s charity that exists to champion the importance of play and defend every seriously ill child’s right to it.

Starlight use the power of play to improve physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing during a child’s illness. They do this through hospital play and distraction services, and with a programme of Starlight events and experiences. They support children, families and health professionals to make moments of escape for those who need it most.

Every child needs and deserves to play. It is crucial for their social and emotional development. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 crisis has made this so much more challenging for seriously ill children in hospital and at home. Just like Starlight, we believe play needs to be protected.

Starlight has a unique role in providing toolkits, toys, activities and entertainment to support health professionals; from nurses to health play specialists providing opportunities for play and distraction throughout the UK. These help children to have enough things to do, get along with other children and have a sense of self and some control in at least one area of their life. At home, families need to feel connected to life, connected with things to look forward to and the confidence to do things: take a break, have fun and make memories that matter. The reality and routine of serious illness can easily take these away. Coping with the challenges of illness, financial constraints and some of the physical barriers that families can face in UK society make the simple act of fun and time together seemingly impossible.
